Dr. Ron Navarro

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Ron Navarro obtained his medical degree at the University of Illinois and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at UCLA. He then did a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Pittsburgh. Dr. Navarro also attended Harvard Business School where he obtained an Executive Leadership Certification which he has utilized as the Director of Clinical Affairs at the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine in California and is currently a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery there. He is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeon’s Leadership Institute Mentoring group and past member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Navarro is a member of the American Orthopedic Association and the American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons Society. He is a Past President of the California Orthopedic Society and was a deputy editor for the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery. Dr. Navarro has published 176 articles and book chapters. He has 2 children and his hobbies include cycling and Pilates.

Dr. Alan Barber

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Alan Barber earned his MD degree from Baylor University and completed his orthopedic surgery training at Tripler Army Medical Center where he earned the rank of Lt. Colonel & received the US Army Surgeon General’s Recognition Award. After completing a fellowship in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery, he entered private practice and academically became an Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Texas. He has taught multiple courses for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America where he served on its Board of Directors. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery. He has published over 275 articles and book chapters and served as a reviewer and editor of various orthopedic journals. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on orthopedic subjects and been named a “Super Doctor” in Texas. He is married with 3 children and 10 grandchildren and enjoys skiing, hiking, and ballroom dancing.

Dr. Jon Engelking

Dr. Jon Engelking received his MD degree at the University of Minnesota and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. He worked as an orthopedic surgeon doing general orthopedic surgery in the Minneapolis St. Paul area with the Fairview health system and St. Croix orthopedics and also did consulting at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Knoxville Tennessee. Dr. Engelking is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and has significant experience in trauma injuries as well as shoulder,elbow, hip, knee, and spinal disorders. He is married with 3 children and 3 grandchildren and enjoys fishing and hunting.

Dr. Rob Hunter

Dr. Robert Hunter received his medical degree and completed his orthopedic surgery training at the University of Minnesota. He completed a sports medicine fellowship and is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Prior to entering private practice in Colorado, he was the Director of Sports Medicine for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He spent 14 years in Aspen, Colorado in private practice focusing on knee and shoulder disorders as well as trauma resulting from ski injuries. He is a Past President of the Arthroscopy Association of North America which has over 6,000 members from 67 countries. Dr. Hunter has lectured nationally and internationally on shoulder and knee pathology and has published over 55 articles and book chapters. One of Dr. Hunter’s passions is working with the Department of Defense to train military surgeons on the treatment of shoulder and knee conditions. He has received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Arthroscopy Association of North America for his service in this regard. Dr. Hunter continues to work part time and is an avid golfer and skier and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren.

Dr. John Dowdle

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. John Dowdle received his MD degree from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery training at the University of Minnesota. He is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and has served on the Committee on Occupational Health for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). He is a Clinical Instructor for the Department of Orthopedics, Emeritus at the University of Minnesota. He has given over 50 lectures at various meetings including the University of Minnesota and at the annual meeting of the AAOS. He has 9 publications and his subspecialty is diseases, injuries, and disorders of the spine. He volunteers at an underserved free health care clinic where he offers his expertise regarding musculoskeletal care and treatment.. Dr Dowdle’s philanthropic duties include building a library in Uganda and a school in Ethiopia. Dr. Dowdle and his wife have 6 children and 8 grandchildren and his hobbies include golf and swimming.
